Slough sedge is an evergreen sedge native to the understory of forested wetlands and riparian areas throughout the Pacific Northwest. Its tall, deep-green, grass-like leaves form dense patches that stabilize soft soils and filter water. This species provides shelter and nesting habitat for birds, amphibians, and beneficial insects. It is among the most popular of all native grass-like plants and is frequently used in habitat restoration, bioswales, rain gardens, and native landscape plantings.
