Kinnikinnick is an evergreen native groundcover found in dry forests, rocky slopes, coastal areas, and open woodlands throughout the Pacific Northwest and much of northern North America.Its low, spreading stems form dense mats of leathery evergreen leaves, while small, urn-shaped pink to white flowers bloom in spring and attract native bees and other pollinators. Bright red fruits develop later in the season and provide food for birds and wildlife. Drought tolerant once established, it is well suited for native gardens, groundcover plantings, slopes, and habitat restoration projects.
